On Tuesday, June 6, at the ATB Catalyst event in Edmonton, ATB presented six exceptional Alberta entrepreneurs with the first ATB Innovation and ATB Export Awards. The awards were created to recognize businesses that have made significant contributions to Alberta’s economy through innovation and export.
The Innovation Award winners were recognized for their transformative and innovative activities, which have created value and a meaningful impact through social or economic means, while inspiring other entrepreneurs to embrace innovation.
The three innovation award winners are as follows:
• InteliRain
InteliRain has innovated a fully computerized high efficiency sprinkler system. Through intelligent controls and design, the sprinklers have been proven to reduce water use by 30%.

• Ventus Geospatial
Ventus has pioneered the integration of high performance Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) with advanced remote sensing equipment to enable highly effective inspection, monitoring, survey and mapping alternatives for a diversity of applications and clients.

• Absolute Combustion
The primary focus of ACI is the clean combustion of natural gas and developing solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, increase safety, operational efficiency and, thus, profitability of projects that require burners in their operations.

The ATB Export Award winners were recognized for their engagement in international business and were celebrated for their export contributions that have made an impact to both the provincial and national economy, while achieving excellence through sustainable growth and innovation.
The three export award winners are as follows:
• Metabolomic Technologies
MTI specializes in metabolomics-based diagnostics for the healthcare market. Their flagship product, PolypDx™ , is the first and only urine-based test with a high sensitivity for detecting adenomatous polyps, the precursor to colorectal cancer (CRC).

• Optima Manufacturing
Optima is a manufacturer of high quality machined parts, among multiple industries. The company’s competitive advantage is in their extensive network with the vast majority of their machined parts being exported.

• Mainline Backflow
Mainline works with all levels of government to prevent flooding caused by sewer backups. Their innovative product design has gained attention from code officials in the plumbing industry – ultimately changing the legislation in many regions.

The awards are yet another reminder of what ATB is doing to be the bank for entrepreneurs, finding unique ways to shine a spotlight on key business leaders, and increase community awareness around innovation and export business.
