MEET KOLEYA

Koleya Karringten is a technology entrepreneur known for her role in founding Absolute Combustion International Inc. (ACI), one of Alberta’s most innovative cleantech companies. In her role as the Executive Director of Canadian Blockchain Consortium, she gained notoriety for helping to enhance and share the opportunities within blockchain and cryptocurrency.

Her journey toward entrepreneurship, advocacy and leadership in technology innovation began at a young age while growing up in Vancouver, Canada. Raised in a family where business, inventiveness, critical thinking, and finance were imbedded in the fabric of daily life, her curious and creative nature was fostered in a supportive home environment. Koleya’s biggest influence and champion was her father, Darsell Karringten.

After a decade-long process, Koleya and her father were able to transform their business idea and opportunity from a piece of paper to reality with ACI, which has grown to become one of Alberta’s most innovative cleantech companies. ACI is setting new industry standards for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving fuel efficiency and enhancing safety in industrial heating.

The Canadian Blockchain Consortium is the province’s main ecosystem organization for the exciting and fast-growing blockchain technology industry. Always keenly interested in exploring the cutting edge of technological developments, under her leadership the Canadian Blockchain Consortium hosts numerous high-profile events, engages with industry and government, and takes an active role in promoting blockchain applications as a key solution to some of the country’s biggest economic challenges.

Koleya went on to expand her advocacy and business development work by co-founding the Canadian Blockchain Association for Women, where she advocates for women in this emerging industry and engages in industry partnerships and social good projects.

Koleya also serves on board of Alberta Women Entrepreneurs, an organization that provides tools and resources to help women succeed in starting or growing a business.

In 2020, she won both the Indigenous Entrepreneur of the Year Award from the Alberta Women Entrepreneurs for her work in developing ground-breaking cleantech solutions with Absolute Combustion International, as well as Edmonton Global : Woman of Vision award for her entrepreneurship, vision and innovation in Alberta’s business sector.
